  • Graphics Designer

    Ottawa

    Reporting to: FORMS DESIGN & INVENTORY PLANNING MANAGER

    Job Description

    Reporting to the Forms Design & Inventory Planning Manager, the Graphic Designer is responsible for recommending improved methods to collect, interpret, conserve data and process items through automated equipment or manual systems for Canada Post. He/she is responsible for ensuring the design meets client needs and design standards.

    His/her duties will include the following:
    • Ensure that all forms designs facilitate the efficient and cost-effective collection and movement of information throughout the organization, while meeting all client business requirements;
    • Creates and suggest innovative sometimes unconventional solutions to production & design problems
    • Ensure that business forms designs adhere to Canada Post Corporate Graphics and all other established client design standards;
    • Supports the team leader on forms development projects and acceptance testing of new forms and systems.
    • Evaluates the performance of existing forms or systems to identify and resolve operating problems
    • Maintains an ongoing awareness of new technology advancements and industry standards in Document management systems and services.
    • Participates in procedural and document reviews utilizing the necessary analysis techniques) Writes printing specifications for the manufacture of the documents
    • Perform other duties as may be required from time to time

    Skills & Qualifications
    • 2 to 4 years related experience
    • Proficiency in graphic design software applications e.g. Quark Express, Adobe Suite products
    • Working knowledge of print production & output on digital equipment
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
    • Excellent creativity & problem solving skills

  • Press Room Supervisor

    We are currently seeking a Press Room Supervisor who will report to the Production Manager of the plant at our plant in the Greater Toronto Area.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work on Press approvals for customers, and sales representatives
    • Backup for Production manager for scheduling and job planning
    • Responsible for press room trouble shooting and problem solving
    • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
    • Knowledge of colour management standards
    • Order supplies and managing inventory levels
    • Order all house stocks and track inventory
    • Checking received stock for accuracy
    • Monitoring press schedules
    • Check and deliver completed stock tickets to Production manager
    • Scheduling maintenance and repairs
    • Processing pressroom staff weekly hours, crew scheduling, overtime scheduling, overtime recording, and vacation logging
    • Managing all consumables as well as waste removals
    • Maintain blanket wash recycling system
    • Liaison with landlord regarding: air conditioning, heating, roof leaks, plumbing repairs, cleaners, racking, lighting, steps, walkways, fencing, parking, snow removal/salting as and when required
    • Responsible for annual inspections – fire extinguishers, sprinklers, alarm, and building safety
    • Manage Vendors – electrical, heating/cooling, plumbing, water softener/RO system, waste removal, humidifiers, floors, commercial cleaning, racking, roofing, lift trucks and pallet trucks, skid turner, exhaust units, paper compactor
    • Ability to manage staff
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum five years of Press Room Supervisor experience
    • Strong knowledge of handling Heidelberg and Sheet fed off-set machines.
    • Exceptional people management skills
    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Motivated individual with excellent organizational skills, high level of integrity and energy, and able to work in dynamic environments
    • Certified member of Joint and Health Safety Committee preferred
    • Experience in Manufacturing industry preferred
