For Hannah Hellyer, the DCM Power Up Bursary has made all the difference in helping her achieve her golf goals. Most notably, Hellyer recently made the cut at a Symetra Tour event – Florida’s Natural Charity Classic at the Winter Haven Golf Club.
This prestigious tournament for professional women golfers is an annual part of the Symetra Tour – the LPGA developmental tour. Players come from around the world to compete, and Hellyer, with impressive scores of 75-69-77 (tied for 68th), was excited to have broken into the 60s.
“During my week in Winter Haven, I learned a lot about patience,” she says. “I learned what it takes to go low. I found that success came when I became invested in the process. Any time fear or doubt crept into my mind, I focused on what I was doing that very moment.”
Thanks to the career-boosting support of the DCM Power Up Bursary, Hellyer can now focus on her next two goals: winning a pro tournament and continuing to practice patience on the golf course.
“I am so grateful for this bursary,” says Hellyer, who spoke about the bursary’s various benefits, including social media mentoring. “My mentorship with Natasha was extremely helpful and a great opportunity to learn how to promote myself online and increase my following. DCM is so forward-thinking when it comes to women’s golf and I am so appreciative of that – I want other athletes to know how beneficial this program is.”
This summer, Hellyer is looking forward to participating in the DCM PGA Women’s Championship of Canada as well as the Canadian Open.
We wish Hannah the best of luck as she continues to benefit from the Power Up Bursary and pursues her LPGA goals.
